Emergency Preparedness

San Juan Basin Health Department houses three regional Emergency Preparedness positions that cover the a 5-county, two tribe area of Southwest Colorado including Dolores, Montezuma, San Juan, Archuleta, and La Plata Counties; the Southern Ute Indian Tribe and the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe. These positions are funded by grants from CDC and Health and Human Services.

Joe Fowler, the Regional Epidemiologist, performs routine and novel disease surveillance including receiving reportable disease information and implementing disease control measures.

Julie Thibodeau, Regional Planner, assists and coordinates emergency planning activities between public health agencies and other response partners.

Sherri Dugdale, Regional Training Coordinator, assesses emergency planning training needs and coordinates training activities.
