Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)

This program provides referral for services for children with traumatic brain injury (TBI). We provide care coordination free of charge to  qualifying the families.

Traumatic brain injury (TBI), sometimes referred to as head injury or closed head injury, is defined as damage to the brain caused by  external physical force, including acceleration/deceleration injuries. This does not include brain injury caused by a congenital causation,  degenerative diseases, surgical interventions, or anoxia.

Many of the symptoms or problems related to brain injury are difficult to measure or quantify, making the diagnosis and documentation of  TBI somewhat difficult. This, in turn, makes it difficult for TBI survivors and their families to receive the help they need.

The mission of the TBI Trust Fund is to help navigate through this difficult process and help assure that TBI survivors and their families are  able to receive the help and services they need.
