The DRAGON Youth Project Team

Kendra Gallegos Reichle:

Kendra is the DRAGON Youth Project and LEAF grant coordinator.  She graduated from Fort Lewis College with a B.A. in psychology in 2005 and is currently pursuing an M.S. in Mental Health Counseling through Walden University.  Her main interests lie in self-esteem support groups for adolescent girls and creative arts therapy.  Before transferring to the prevention division at San Juan Basin Health Department she worked as an administrative assistant and translator in the family planning and prenatal division.  She lives just outside of Durango with her husband, Jeff, and her two dogs Napoleon and Aspen.

DRAGON Advisory Committee:

Harlene Russell:

Harlene is the longest standing committee member!  She is employed as the director of the La Plata Youth Services, and involved in many important community efforts for the youth of La Plata county.

Darlene Clayton:

Darlene works with Alternative Horizons by reaching out to women who are victims of domestic violence.  She previously worked with Kendra in the SJBHD family planning and prenatal division.  She is a very active advocate in the Spanish speaking community.

Sheree Volrab:

Sheree works for the SJBHD tobacco prevention division.  She serves as a health educator for the youth and schools tobacco prevention program as well as for secondhand smoke. 

Jennifer Doherty:

Jenn works as the resource and referral coordinator for the Womens Resource Center.  She is very important to the women and girls of La Plata county.

Emma Salazar:

Emma currently works as the Programs Director of Durango Latino Education Coalition, although she has been an instrumental youth advocate in many areas, expecially working with minorities.

Shaina Maytum:

Shaina is a junior at Fort Lewis College majoring in English and Outdoor Education.  She is very interested in getting more involved with the youth of our community and has helped facilitate a few Girls Circle and Reconnecting Youth sessions.

Tracy Bedard:

Tracy is the Minority Overrepresentation (MOR) coordinator for the 6th Judicial District Probation Department.  She works with minority youth involved with the criminal justice system by providing different activities around social justice, mentoring, etc.
