Stormwater

In 1992 the State of Colorado stormwater regulation (5 CCR 1002-61) went into effect based on EPA regulations. The regulation is meant to reduce the amount of pollutants from entering streams, rivers, lakes and wetlands as a result of discharges associated with construction activities. The State regulation includes residential, commercial and industrial areas. Prior to construction, a stormwater discharge permit must be obtained through the Colorado Discharge Permit System (CDPS) from the Colorado Department of Health and Environment Water Quality Control Division for any soil disturbance exceeding one acre.
